I am an autodidact, painter, and comicist. For many years my work has dealt with America's stratified economic and social underpinnings. Currently, I am working on three issues of a comic to be compiled into a graphic novel. The initial concept for this project began several years ago and was started in earnest two years ago when I began working by digital means. I am entirely self-taught in this media. The graphic novel has seeped into my paintings and the same imagery can be seen throughout my current body of work. My working methods rely entirely on memory impressions (unless working from life). I do not use references in my work because I believe a truer account of my interior life is chronicled. There are also practical reason for working like this: I do not have the space or money for more equipment and models nor do I have the time to compose in this way.
I am also a member of the Fun Squad based in Benton Harbor, Michigan; a group of Michigan based artists the members of which were initially recruited by the FS founder, Nathan Margoni. Our work is usually on display yearly in the summer season in various and unexpected venues. The members frequently display their work in juried competitions.
